Another succesful implementation of the on-line Duralyzer-NIR near infrared based liquor analyzer.

On April 4th we installed and started up a Digester Liquor Analyzer at Weyerhaeuser, Longview, WA. The 5 on-line automatic samplers are sampling from the following locations:

1. White Liquor Feed
2. BC Zone
3. MC Zone
4. Extraction Zone
5. Wash Zone

The analyzer was up running and measuring in two days and has been collecting samples and analyzing these samples without interruption since then. Shortly after the start-up, the mill implemented white liquor control and were able to reduce their white liquor consumption.

The success of this very difficult application is contributed to the unique but simple design of the sampling devices, industrial spectrometer configured for white & black liquor analysis, an acid cleaning system to remove any scale buildup from the sampling optics and all the necessary sampling hardware to interface white & black liquor lines into the system. The hardware is “off the self” readily available standard parts keeping the cost of the analyzer minimal. The only maintenance requirement is a routing visual check for leaks and a yearly replacement of the NIR light source.

A Bench Top Analyzer is also available for the lab. The Duralyzer-NIR Bench Top Liquor Analyzer is a perfect solution for Pulp Mills. It has been designed to overcome all of the issues associated with manual liquor testing, providing fast, reliable, and accurate results with minimal operator involvement. The DURALYZER-NIR bench top analyzer provides the results of the standard ABC titration test, providing effective alkali (EA), active alkali (AA), total titrateable alkali (TTA) and Na2SO4 measurements for white and green liquors. In addition, total dissolved solids (TDS) and total dissolved deadload (TDD) measurements are also provided. For black liquor, residual effective alkali (REA), residual active alkali (RAA), total dissolved organics (TDO) and black liquor TDS measurements are provided.
